Artist Bio

I enjoy creating things that catch people off guard, things that puzzle and leave them thinking (whether good or bad). From Painting to ephemeral art, I’m fascinated by things that shift people away from the day to day. As kids we were always in a state of awe and wonder and it’s this essence that inspires my work.

As a young boy I was hugely impacted by the works of the surrealists and would endlessly search for images by Magritte, Dali and Tanning and as a result their influence in my paintings is evident.

I find it hard to settle with just a landscape as I feel its important to capture not only the energy of a place but also of the observer. It’s the form of this observer in my paintings that dictates the central figures in my work.

I’m also a passionate lover of sculpture. I find that the physical nature of sculpting enhances the ability to express earthly concerns. Unlike the subconscious nature of my paintings, my sculptures aim at tackling more contemporary and persistent issues that impact our human existence such as Global warming, GMO’s and the throw-away culture in general that riddles our modern society.

Adrian Olguin is an Argentine born artist who migrated to Australia with his family in the late 70’s. He has always been fascinated by the hidden gems of the subconscious mind and his work explores the catalyst spark of thought and being.
His work is heavily influenced by the surrealists like Magritte, Dali, Carrington and others. His dream like scenery and use of colour aims to ignite questions of beginnings and purpose.
He is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts and looks forward to sharing more of his works.
Adrian’s work incorporates painting, sculpture and printmaking.
