Artwork Description

I wanted to try my hand at this style I discovered about a year ago when I painted the series including the popular ‘Tango’. I wanted to try this super colourful style with a subject that was less ‘sexy’ and approachable. So this began as a colourful, simple figure, and gradually became more about exploring issues of social anxiety and depression. This is reflected through, firstly, the pose, but also the closing in pressure of the repeated geometric patterns of the background. What it means, if anything, is up to you!

Artist Bio

Aidan is proudly self taught, and thus focuses on experimenting with a range of techniques, styles and subjects. He was initially influenced by Spontaneous Realism, graffiti and street art, and the layered palette knife work of artists such as Joshua Miels and Francoise Nielly. Most recently he is heavily influenced by Andrew Salgado. His works are most often large format and are characterised by bold colours, emotional raw brush strokes and extensive layering.
