Aileen paints her Tjukurrpa, bush flowers, through the use of bold colours and patterns.
Aileen explained that the circles in the middle represent her bush flower Tjukurrpa. "Those flowers, those seeds, they never go away. Always come back."
This painting depicts the native flowers that bloom across the Australian desert, especially after rain and in the cooler months. Many of these flowers signify particular things, such as an abundance of bush food or the signalling of particular times of year. Some flowers, like those of the kalin-kalinpa (honey grevillea), can be eaten for a sweet treat, or brewed into a cordial to enhance the flavour of water.
