Walhalla

Autumn in the old goldmining town of Walhalla (Gippsland) is such a moment to experience and take-in! Cottages are surrounded by stunning mountains and walkways are laced with exotic colorful trees shredding their leaves gracefully. This painting captures a beautiful tree I was mesmerized by!

The style of the painting is so unique. I have only applied hundreds of small consistent brush strokes. A closer look shows a painterly effect, and when you take a few steps back, you are drawn straight into Walhalla.

My painting technique involves layering and adding textures to achieve the illusion of 3D world in the artwork.

The imperfections of the real world is what I find captivating and I often weave that into my process - there is a sense of looseness in the work that creates interest.

I prefer to create my own colour palette using primary colours- there is nothing better than being in control of the variations you can bring with preparing your own paint bottles.
