The Swans of Carlingwark Loch

Whilst on a visit to Scotland in 2023 I approached the loch in the town they were drinking near some reeds. Quick sketches ensued.
Swans have long graced the loch with their beauty and elegance. In 2021 and early 2022 both the loch and wider Solway Coast experienced significant bird deaths due to an avian flu outbreak. Reports from the time documented several dead swans and bird flu confirmed.
The vision ahead of me was a storm approaching and I wanted to capture in this work a kind of eeriness, foreboding sense combined with the beauty of the swans

Alan has worked with Ian Fleming Illustration Agency in the 80s gaining numerous commissions eg; Royal Shakespeare Company, 20th Century Fox and British Telecom .
In 1986 his portrait of Andrew Celli Actor was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery London.
From 90s onwards he has worked in Scenic Painting ( eg; Michael Jackson Dangerous Tour) ,Specialist Mural Decoration ( Numerous London Residences) and Fine Art.
Mentoring Students since 1989 in various Colleges in UK. and now in Australia where he migrated in 2007.
