Artwork Description

The swallow is in-between the woman's neck and her body, which is in darkness. This is a surreal moment in time, the feeling of something quickly moving through your chest like a sparrow flying in the wind. Her head is bowed down as she is self-aware of this moment waiting for it to pass.

Artist Bio

I am Alana Wilkie, a Queensland-born artist who embraces traditional techniques in my artwork. My focus lies in capturing the surreal beauty that exists beyond reality.

Through my paintings, I delve into the realms of dreams and the subconscious, intertwining tangible and intangible elements to create visual narratives. The intention is to invite viewers on a journey of exploration and contemplation.

Having exhibited in Melbourne and Brisbane, my art has reached a diverse audience. It brings me joy to know also that people from Ireland, Spain, the USA, New Zealand, and other countries have appreciated and collected my work.

Continuously refining my traditional techniques, I aim to push the boundaries of creativity. My goal is to create an atmosphere of a fantasy world based on our reality but more surreal.

Come join me on a captivating journey through the canvas, where beauty takes on surreal forms and imagination knows no limits.
