Artwork Description

“Through the Trees (Ballandean)"

Going Bush #2 - "Through the Trees (Ballandean)" is a mesmerising masterpiece capturing the essence of Australian Impressionism. With a canvas size of 610x510mm, this artwork is a testament to the artist's exceptional skill in utilising and blending palette knives techniques to bring the Australian landscape to life.

Inspired by a memorable trip to Ballandean, Queensland, this painting reflects a hidden gem discovered during a bush walk. The artist skill-fully portrays the enchanting view "Through the Trees," showcasing the stunning interplay of rocks, trees, and a majestic mountain range in the background.

In her signature "Juicy Impressionistic" style, the artist infuses the painting with texture, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the vivid and dynamic representation of nature. The artwork comes alive under various lighting conditions, with metallic highlights strategically added to capture the play of light filtering through the trees. This attention to detail gives the piece an almost three-dimensional quality, making it a captivating focal point in any space.

Crafted using professional light-fast acrylic and gel medium, “Through the Trees (Ballandean)" is a visual journey that transports viewers to the heart of the Australian landscape. Whether you're an avid art collector or a nature enthusiast, this artwork promises to resonate with your appreciation for the beauty of the great outdoors. It's a stunning addition to your collection or a statement piece for your living space.

Artist Bio

I am intrigued by the beauty in all things – I strive to notice it wherever possible – I want to capture moments and seal them in time for all to enjoy.

I love how colour and light dances on ordinary objects, making the everyday - extraordinary.

I am student of art and I hope to be for the rest of my life but I went through a decade-long period without creating.  I tried my hand at a few things, but it wasn’t until the birth of my children and the Pandemic that my passion for painting was rekindled. I’ve promised to never stop creating again – prioritising art in my life, time in my studio, and adventures that inspires.

Landscapes – natural and man-made, are my passion. I’m fascinated with architecture, evolving skylines and natural country. The juxtaposition of orthogonal vs. fractal – challenges me to grow and advance.

Palette knives give me freedom from perfection. My heavily textured pieces are achieved by adding gel-medium to my acrylic paints creating thick and rich effects and giving life to my paintings.

I explore themes of creation and destruction, man vs nature. This idea is emerging in my piece “Progress” where I muted the background structures - Questioning if the building of a new and beautiful bridge to a casino is a symbol of Brisbane’s progress or just an example of more corporate greed?

Our society seems to be obsessed with the idea that things have to be shifting for there to be improvement. I want my work to represent the contrasting Australia: from the beauty and serenity of the Australian bush; to the ever-expanding and changing Australian urban vistas; from my home in Brisbane to others which I maybe lucky enough to explore.
