I’m Alessia Catalano, an Australian visual artist currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in drawing. My practice explores memory, abstraction, and pop culture, often blending humor with bold, graphic aesthetics. I work across painting and mixed media, incorporating pixelated imagery and bright, saturated colors inspired by pop art influences like Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Raymond Pettibon.
I’m particularly interested in how visual language can shift in meaning, playing with text and found imagery to subvert expectations. Some of my recent projects include a pixelated painting based on a childhood home video and a series exploring digital distortion.
