I allow my paints to develop from random oil stick marks and light washes and to build up and remove layers. I rarely start with a finished idea in mind
Alexandra Taylor graduated the National Art School in Sydney in 2012 and is an artist based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. After 25 years in an equestrian based career her practice naturally leant towards the horse, her knowledge of the horse’s form and movement was the basis for her early figurative abstract paintings. Rhythm and colour have been a predominant feature of these early works which were strongly influenced by Susan Rothenberg and Helen Frankenthaler. More recently an inclination towards the ephemeral flow of water colour has lead into abstract landscapes using paint application and layers to create their own narrative. Current works are evolving to express the power of spaces and rhythms of the environment.
