Artwork Description

Part of the ongoing 'Between the Currents Series: The Mawhera Paintings', this abstract acrylic painting, titled Wave Trap, explores the shifting layers of memory and the essence of a moment in life. Planes of colour — vivid pinks, deep blues, lush greens, and earthy corals — merge with bold, geometric lines and a lattice form that arcs through the composition. The interplay of texture and shape creates a sense of movement and containment, inviting the viewer to drift through the work and discover their own meaning. Painted on 300gsm A4 paper using high-quality acrylics, this piece is a unique and collectible original.

Artist Bio

I draw inspiration from the beauty of nature and the limitless potential of discovering beauty in the ordinary of everyday.

My work focuses on familiar botanical subjects—orchids, leaves, and garden forms—reinterpreted through saturated colour and simplified shapes. I am interested in the tension between softness and intensity, often placing light, delicate forms against deep, warm grounds.

Working from a home studio, I build paintings in layers, allowing colour relationships to guide the final composition.
