Artwork Description

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly". Remnant beeswax from 60 prayer candles was gathered after their service, cleansed and melted with solvent to apply onto the 6 walls of the honeycomb cells. Together the cells rebuild a beehive and return the beeswax to its origins outlasting its innocent makers. In the midst of the beehive hangs an intricate play of symbols representing our mind (pine cone), body (heart), and breath that is reconnects us with our spirit (blue light). Moving through the heart and mind, the light guides us into presence and stillness. Only when surrounded by and interwoven with Nature do all things come to balance, where the mind chatter subsides. And there you can hear your breath. And your heartbeat. And through that the heartbeat of the forest.

Artist Bio

Alia is a self-taught artist born in Russia and immigrated to Australia in 2015. Alia explores the world within through art. Her digital, acrylic, and oil paintings invite you to connect with nature and yourself to find inner joy and peace.
Fascinated by life in all its forms and expressions, Alia draws inspiration for her works from nature, mythology, spiritual practices, children, femininity, and intricacies of the mind. Alia's artworks are elaborately detailed with each object being hand-drawn and carefully thought through.
Every artwork is filled with symbolism and tells a story, so no detail is accidental in Alia's works. It is her way of inviting the viewer to pay careful attention to each moment in life, as every single one is unique and will never be repeated.
Alia uses sacred geometry principles in her works - the same shapes that can be found everywhere in nature. She feels that nature is the greatest cure for the busy mind and wants to bring peace to the viewers through her works.
