Daffodils on the Adelong Road

On a bright Autumn day in regional New South Wales, a beautiful pot of tiny daffodils and budding hyacinth was staring at Alice, tempting her to paint them. The loose, expressive handling of paint gives it a modern, playful twist. It also leans slightly toward impressionistic ideas, especially in how color and texture are used to suggest rather than precisely define the flowers.

As a contemporary painter, I explore colour, light, and shadow through depictions of nature and everyday subjects. My work is often described as joyful, yet it emerges from deeply challenging personal experiences.

These works are apart of a new body of work called 'Shadows Shaped by Colour' and encapsulates this duality: the darkness informs the work, yet colour transforms it into something vivid, considered, and alive. By reimagining subjects though my art practices I aim to distill essential forms while capturing emotional resonance.
