Tree Roots

This painting was inspired by a beautiful tree along the Hume River. Half of the tree's roots are exposed facing the river which was a new subject I have never touched before and wanted to explore. I used different shades of purple in watercolor to soften the ruff, hardness of the roots to give the painting an expressive, dreamlike feel which made me a feeling of calm as I was painting it. I always had the need to draw and paint ever since I could remember. I work mostly with acrylic paint but i also dabble with oil and watercolor. My work is mostly of subjects of the natural world such as landscapes and plants. I have set out to express my love of nature and to show it in a different perspective through art. I’ get my inspiration from eastern and western art, bright elaborate colors and whimsical subjects which are the main ideas I use in my work. I usually play around with an idea for a painting by doing several sketches a few weeks before I finally put it onto canvas. In between that time, I’m almost always sketching, doing watercolors and editing previous work. Painting gives me purpose and satisfaction that I hope people will enjoy.
