Original oil painting on stretched canvas framed in a Victorian Ash floating frame
A large vintage blue and white vase holding a sprig of pink azalea sits in front of a 1940's Sanderson Linen inspired background.
My latest series of paintings is exploring vintage vessels against early Sanderon Linen prints. This particular print was saved from an dressing table chair that was being reupholstered and the owner had thrown this fabric in the bin. I was more than happy to rescue it and celebrate its English Garden beauty!
My aim is to use the pattern of these fabric to create a full bouquet with the more modern vases to the foreground. Although visually they are separate, the become the one flower grouping in the painting...
The painting including Victorian Ash floating frame measures 48cm x 63cm and 5.5cm deep
