Artwork Description

Dark Faun is an original hand-built bust sculpture reimagining the faun as an ancient, armoured being β€” far removed from the playful forest creature of classical mythology.
One violet eye peers through a painted mask marking; segmented horn armour curls around the skull; layered dark feathers cover the crown and back like ancestral plumage. A small wire ring hangs from the temple β€” the only delicate detail in an otherwise powerful presence. The figure was created entirely from original sketches, with no moulds and no reproductions.
Every element is hand-formed from air-dry clay: the overlapping feather layers, the segmented armour, the painted eye symbol. Mounted on a dark painted wood base.

Artist Bio

Alisa Anderson is a visual artist based in Tampere, Finland. Her work moves between painting and sculptural forms, exploring human figures, symbolic imagery and emotional atmospheres.

Working with mixed materials, textures and expressive shapes, she creates artworks that balance structure and spontaneity. Some pieces carry a quiet, contemplative mood, while others lean toward surreal or dramatic visual language. This contrast allows her work to move freely between different emotional spaces and artistic approaches.

Alisa often experiments with materials and form, combining traditional techniques with sculptural elements and textured surfaces. Her practice is driven by curiosity and the desire to transform simple forms into expressive visual stories.

Through painting and three-dimensional works, she explores the relationship between body, movement and imagination. Each artwork becomes a small narrative β€” sometimes subtle and poetic, sometimes bold and symbolic β€” inviting viewers to interpret the piece in their own way.
