Endure

This work is influence by a love of drapery and the renaissance approach to painting it. I have kept the edges in soft focus technique to counterbalance the dramatic gesture of the figure in this wooded landscape.

The golden thread that runs through my work is the pursuit of Beauty, through depicting our human form in the landscape. My first love is portraiture and capturing the soul’s essence on canvas.
My inspirations are those realists of the Renaissance and the nineteenth century Pre-raphaelite painters, who broke the boundaries of what could be achieved with tubes of oil colour. I aspire to likewise emulate them.
I am classically trained in drawing and painting in the Atelier tradition. An additional university degree in the conservation of easel paintings means all my work is constructed with the highest standards of conservation in mind- my paintings will indeed stand the test of time.
Life is too short not to be surrounded by beauty.
