A portrait of a poetess. Poetry is one of the most powerful art forms. Poets were the rock starts of yesteryear. A poem can be prescribed to match the need of your soul: a poem for despair or grief; for joy or contentment. This painting serves as a tribute to the power of the poet. The lyrical colours used are to match her the muse of inspiration that inspires beautiful and moving poetry.

The golden thread that runs through my work is the pursuit of Beauty, through depicting our human form in the landscape. My first love is portraiture and capturing the soul’s essence on canvas.
My inspirations are those realists of the Renaissance and the nineteenth century Pre-raphaelite painters, who broke the boundaries of what could be achieved with tubes of oil colour. I aspire to likewise emulate them.
I am classically trained in drawing and painting in the Atelier tradition. An additional university degree in the conservation of easel paintings means all my work is constructed with the highest standards of conservation in mind- my paintings will indeed stand the test of time.
Life is too short not to be surrounded by beauty.
