Matron

This is a soft pastel drawing of a cow named Matron. While all the other cows in the paddock tend to look away from the camera, Matron always seems happy to have her photo taken.
This simple pastel drawing on olive green pastel paper, allows her characteristic Brahman features- her big ears and the folds through her neck and chest- to really stand out.

Amanda Boyce is an Australian mixed media artist based in Queensland. She works across acrylic, oil, ink, soft pastel and collage, creating layered pieces that combine loose, expressive mark making with more realistic elements.
