Amanda Ellison is an artist residing in Queensland. Inspired by the landscapes she paints abstracted emotive, gestural works conveying a desire to pay mindful attention to the textures of the environment. Her works are painted from an emotional response to the landscape exploring themes of mental health, slow living and embracing the present.
She works in all kinds of media, mainly acrylics. Amanda is inspired by her young son, husband and the places she explores with them. Her work is based on emotion with rich gestured mark making, often adding many layers to acquire the textures that pave her pieces. She finds exploring abstraction a freeing process, being inspired by how thoughts and emotions can be thrown and splayed on canvas and paper.
