Artwork Description

Tunnel of Love is about my childhood investigating the tunnels or storm drains as a kid. Walking in the mud and sometimes having to split legs like Spiderman to get above the water. Crazy? Yes. Scary? Yes. Adventurous? Yes. We had no idea low long some of these tunnels would go and they were pitch black. Eventually we would take a torch to go in deeper and deeper. These tunnels would meander underneath the Ford Motor company factory on the Hume Hwy. We had to be careful not to be caught by security. My friends first kiss with a boy was here. As we got closer to the end you could see the sun was setting and the pink orange glow would highlight the grates and we would know it was time to start heading home.

Artist Bio

My art is inspired by our earths hydrosphere and biodiversity
living above and beneath our waters in the various climates

My love for water was ingrained inn me by my father who occupied his
free time sailing with me by his side

I am intrigued by all that surrounds, lies above, below the water
and the elements that are forever changing the landscape

Amanda McSweeney is a self taught Australian artist
