Undercurrent

The aim of my artwork is to bring vibrant and uplifting colour into a room. I use primed wooden boards with varying overlays of transparent and opaque paints mixed into epoxy resin, which gives each completed work a glass-like appearance. My inspiration for this piece was listening to funk and groove rhythms and letting the colours create the energy and movement.

My creative journey has always been motivated by three principles: the organic shapes and harmonious colours within nature, the application of science and the pursuit of beauty.
Although my fluid pour and resin paintings have a somewhat otherworldly and abstract appearance, there is certainly a technical and scientific aspect to applying the paint to achieve different effects on both canvas and wooden substrates.
In addition I use a wide range of pigments, spray enamel, mica powder and liquid oils to create both subtle and vibrant colour palettes, enough to enhance any room.
I want each of my paintings offer a intriguing and beautiful reflection of our environment.
