Amanda is an Artist and Visual Arts Teacher residing in Brisbane. Amanda studied Graphic Design at the Queensland College of Art in the 1980s before embarking on a career in the early online advertising industry prior to the Internet. Her early paintings reflected her love of bold colour and graphic style that were influenced by the Pop Art and Naive Art movements. During the 90's, Amanda married and focused upon raising her two sons and utilised her time away from the workforce to expand her knowledge and skills across a range of mediums. She discovered a passion for pastels and has continued to develop her skill in this medium over the years. Amanda returned to study in 2002 embarking upon a Bachelor of Education (Primary), graduating in 2006. She spent 13 years teaching in the classroom before grabbing an opportunity to return to her first love and teach art. She has worked as an art teacher since 2019 on the Gold Coast. Her passion for all things creative has been reignited and she has continued to develop her skills across a range of mediums. When she is not teaching art, Amanda is creating original pieces of art for clients, for sale or just for the love of it. She works with a wide range of mediums and loves to experiment with different techniques. Her latest artworks reflect her journey towards inner calm through the teaching of workshops in the Redlands area. The workshops "Art for the Soul' teach how to use art to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. She has a regular clientele and is enjoying sharing her love of art and how it can be used to develop well-being.
Amanda is passionate about what she does and states that when she is making art, she is in her happy place.
