Caught in a sudden downpour while taking an early morning walk last summer, I took shelter under an outcrop of rock and looked out over the Georges River gorge as the rain poured down.
This painting captures in some part the way the rain enhances the colours of the fallen bark and leaves, the lichens and mosses on the rocks and the foliage of nearby shrubs, while obscuring the further side of the gully in a fine mist. As for the sound of the rain, the fragrance of the bush and the joyous sound of the kookaburras and cockatoos when the sun came out again... you will have to imagine those!
