Drawing on paper
Signed on the front.
This piece represents Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden where Eve comforts Adam in a motherly embrace. He is almost in a foetal like position whilst Eve is shielding him and supporting his head.
This drawing of Adam and Eve was inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s understanding of the parable.
The tree represented the knowledge of what is deemed good and bad. By eating the fruit, both Adam and Eve had a newfound ability to judge. So in essence once everything is being judged it is impossible to experience life as the paradise it is. Tolle says that this knowledge is the root cause of human suffering.
The clichéd asp was not included but instead a lamb was placed near Adam to represent Christ and a powerful owl has been placed in the branches. The owl is symbolic of wisdom, foresight and is the keeper of sacred knowledge.
