Artwork Description

“Quiet Return” captures the feeling of coming home at the end of the day, when the world softens and everything slows. A classic Queenslander house is reduced to a delicate white outline, almost like a memory or architectural ghost, gently resting against a sky washed in warm dusk tones. The layered pinks, mauves, and earthy shadows echo the fading heat of the day and the emotional warmth tied to place.

The house is both present and intangible - a structure of lines rather than walls -
suggesting that “home” is not just a building, but a feeling we carry with us. The open verandah, familiar roofline, and balanced symmetry evoke suburban comfort, while the dreamy sky blurs time, as if past and present are meeting in a single quiet moment.

This work reflects on the small, often unnoticed transitions in daily life - the exhale when you walk through the door, the comfort of returning to a space that knows you. It is a portrait of home not as a location, but as a gentle state of being.

Artist Bio

My paintings are vibrant, bold and eye-catching. I love bright colours that evoke a feeling of joy and delight!

I paint imaginative urban-themed environments, landscapes, gardens, wilderness, mountains and character houses.

The palettes of my paintings are consistently strikingly vivid that bring energy and life to my harmonious compositions.

My work leans towards an abstract stylisation with simplified shapes and block colours, but this is balanced with intricate details and patterns. I like to think of it as a maximalist-minimalist style.

Each piece focuses on a balance between the foreground and background which guides the viewer through the paintings.

My background is in landscape architecture and urban design. My passion for my place making career is an influence on my work. I focus on creating an aspirational “sense of place” and utopic vision, mostly set around my home in the Moreton Bay region in South-East Queensland.
