Artwork Description

“Rest for a Rosella” captures a quiet moment of stillness within a lush subtropical garden. An Eastern Rosella pauses at a birdbath, its vibrant plumage glowing against layers of bold foliage, cool blues, and luminous pink skies. Inspired by the colourful gardens and abundant birdlife of South East Queensland, this artwork celebrates the simple joy of sharing space with nature.

Painted in Amy Ruth's signature maximalist-minimalist style, the composition combines simplified botanical forms with vivid colour to create a contemporary Australian landscape filled with energy and optimism. The rippling water draws the viewer into the scene, inviting a moment of reflection amid the surrounding abundance.

This original Australian bird painting is perfect for collectors who love colourful wall art, native wildlife, garden-inspired interiors, and contemporary Australian landscapes. “Rest for a Rosella” brings a sense of tranquillity, warmth, and everyday wonder to any home.

Artist Bio

My paintings are vibrant, bold and eye-catching. I love bright colours that evoke a feeling of joy and delight!

I paint imaginative urban-themed environments, landscapes, gardens, wilderness, mountains and character houses.

The palettes of my paintings are consistently strikingly vivid that bring energy and life to my harmonious compositions.

My work leans towards an abstract stylisation with simplified shapes and block colours, but this is balanced with intricate details and patterns. I like to think of it as a maximalist-minimalist style.

Each piece focuses on a balance between the foreground and background which guides the viewer through the paintings.

My background is in landscape architecture and urban design. My passion for my place making career is an influence on my work. I focus on creating an aspirational “sense of place” and utopic vision, mostly set around my home in the Moreton Bay region in South-East Queensland.
