Artwork Description

“Soft Skies, Strong Stone” captures a moment of quiet contrast, where billowing clouds drift across a candy-pink sky above a grounded, weathered island. The textured forms of the clouds—painted in thick, expressive strokes—bring movement and softness to the composition, while the solid rock below anchors the scene with its earthy weight. This piece marks the artist’s first foray into painting clouds, embracing their ephemeral nature against the permanence of land. It’s a celebration of opposites: air and earth, fluid and fixed, softness and strength—held together in one luminous, imagined horizon.

Artist Bio

My paintings are vibrant, bold and eye-catching. I love bright colours that evoke a feeling of joy and delight!

I paint imaginative urban-themed environments, landscapes, gardens, wilderness, mountains and character houses.

The palettes of my paintings are consistently strikingly vivid that bring energy and life to my harmonious compositions.

My work leans towards an abstract stylisation with simplified shapes and block colours, but this is balanced with intricate details and patterns. I like to think of it as a maximalist-minimalist style.

Each piece focuses on a balance between the foreground and background which guides the viewer through the paintings.

My background is in landscape architecture and urban design. My passion for my place making career is an influence on my work. I focus on creating an aspirational “sense of place” and utopic vision, mostly set around my home in the Moreton Bay region in South-East Queensland.
