Steele Creek 2020

This piece is part of the vibrant and hopeful abstract painting series 'Lalaland' which was created in 2020 during the first lockdown in Melbourne. It was initially inspired by the Korean folk art Min Hwa which literal means "painting of the people" or "popular painting". Minhwa also involved a magical dimension believing to possess beneficial virtues and to protect the owner and his family from unfortunate forces.

Born in Seoul, lives in Melbourne. Studied Fine art in VCA and Master of Teaching in Melbourne University. Painting allows me to explore and express my-raw-self by looking into unattended feelings. I deeply appreciate the particularity of each human being and nature, its contrast in harmony, imperfectly perfect beauty, vulnerable but resilient mind, and essence and existence. Painting allows me to explore and express my love and respect for us, our lives, our beautifully flawed souls.
