Artwork Description

This was inspired by a series of aerial photos that captured the beautiful and contrasting landscapes of Australia and breath-taking pictures showing the outback transformed into an ocean after torrential rain.

Strong, unusual color pallete of the inland water contrasts beautifully against the more natural hue of the ocean and bush.

This piece has a wonderful translucent golden orange area which shines when the light catches on it.

Artist Bio

Indo-Welsh artist living in Australia - tackling the universe from above and below. I experiment with paint to express the colours and movements inspired by the photography of NASA and the cinematography of David Attenborough’s BBC series Blue Planet and Frozen. I attempt to not only highlight the beauty of the planet but to try and capsulate some issues such as the melting of glaciers and different habitats.

In my studio I physically move around the canvas to manipulate and apply the paints from different angles. The liberation and technique of such free-flowing work drives me to push the boundaries of what can be achieved, creating a never-ending myriad of movement, effects and finishes reflecting phenomena and the dramatic images of landscapes and the solar system.

The world of visual effects and large scale art was opened up to me from a young age when I experienced working on scenic art for Welsh National Opera. Probably the most influential environment for me before later attending The Courtauld Institute of Art to study Conservation of Frescoes and the science behind the artists’ materials.

My art invites the viewer to take a look up close and explore the art in detail before enjoying the overall energy.
