I am a self taught artist with the inquisitive mind of an engineer therefore I always like to challenge myself to experiment and try something new. As I build my “Art of Storytelling Collection” I look for stories, people and/or events that resonate with me. As I embarked on this journey, I found myself immersed in the world of fashion, a realm where artistry knows no bounds. The spines of the books, serve as both my canvas and my portal into the lives and legacies of these extraordinary fashion legends.

Each element of this larger-than-life composition is meticulously crafted, reflecting my unwavering commitment to capturing the essence of these visionaries. In the realm of artistic expression, there exists a profound and intricate tapestry, woven together by the threads of creativity, dedication, and inspiration. This painting seeks to unravel this fabric, revealing the interwoven stories of these thirteen fashion houses and how they continue to be the inspiration for the present.. and the future.
There are seven spines with detailed portraits of designers who have left an indelible mark on the fashion landscape: Ralph Lauren, Dior, Coco Chanel, Donna Karan, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Giorgio Armani. Names we all recognize however, these names were not selected randomly; they are artists who, like myself, believe that fabric can be a medium of self-expression, a canvas upon which dreams and stories can be woven. These designers have not only shaped the way we dress but have also contributed to the rich tapestry of human history with their unparalleled artistry.
The remaining six books are a tribute to the timeless fashion houses that have become synonymous with luxury, style, and enduring craftsmanship: Gucci, Tiffany & Co, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Hermes and Louis Vuitton Their names, logos, and signature colors are woven into the very fabric of our culture, transcending mere fashion to become symbols of aspiration and excellence.
As an artist, I've always believed that art should not exist in isolation but should be a reflection of the world around us. In the case of "Designing History," I draw attention to the interconnectedness of fashion, art, and culture. These designers and fashion houses are not just names on spines; they are chapters in the story of human creativity, innovation, and beauty. They are the embodiment of artistic longevity and the power of a singular vision to shape an industry.
Through countless hours of focus and unwavering attention to detail, I've endeavored to capture the incredible impact of these artists on the world of fashion and beyond. "Designing History" is not just a painting; it's a testament to the enduring legacy of those who dared to dream and redefine the boundaries of their craft. It's an invitation for you, the viewer, to explore the intricate layers of inspiration, dedication, and innovation that make up the world of fashion—a world where fabric becomes art, and designers become storytellers.

THE COLLECTION
Through some health issues, I have slowly been adding to my collection “The Art of Storytelling” -- my quest to find great stories and tell them through a moment in time on canvas! I realized one day that it isn’t as easy to find a book store where we could peruse the spines of books and have the titles inspire us to open them up and learn more. SO I thought book spines were a great way to tell a story. A great way to paint a portrait of one’s life or lives. Sometimes with portraits or images, often just with words. “Designing History” is just one of many in my upcoming “Life Portrait” Series which of course is part of my overall Art of Storytelling Collection!
My hope is that this painting will inspire the collector to learn more about these giants and that the stories within become conversation starters for you no matter on what wall it may hang!
