Welcome to my collection of wine paintings : "From Palate to Palette" featuring "Home on the Grange"
My style has been described as "big and bold hyperrealistic detail, with a balance of colour and composition".. precisely the same blend of elements that winemakers (true artists) hope to bring to their top vintages!
To celebrate the brilliant wine artisans at Penfolds Grange, I painted “Home on the Grange”, depicting one of their best vintages of the 1990s.
In 1995, Grange attracted considerable interest when Wine Spectator Magazine named the 1990 vintage their 'Red Wine of the Year'. This success can ultimately be contributed to the incredible Max Schubert who was Penfold's first chief winemaker and crafted the Grange vintages from its beginning in 1951... thus Max is honoured on the upper left hand corner of the label.
You might ask "but why the name Home on the Grange"... well, if you look closely in the reflection i painted on the bottle, that is a reflection of my house... my home! I also love a good pun!
Ultimately, this painting is a tribute to an amazing wine and it is going to be remembered as one of “Granges Finest”.
