Artwork Description

“Joy Flight" - part of the Ando Australiana Collection ... and are offering the painting for not only a special price but also 10% off to celebrate the change of seasons...
Surfers Paradise on the Gold coast is Australia's playground ,stunning beaches and vibrant city living outside Brisbane, I travel here often and capturing it in paint was a tricky proposition. I decided to have a group of my favourite parrots , stars of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Rainbow Lorikeets, take a joy flight over the city's skyline and Main Beach.
The birds are in sharp detail with the entire landscape blurred just as our eyes would see it , also as I get older I only need to take my glasses off to paint it. (haha) The buildings in the landscape serve as carriers of the light that falls upon them, they are bathed in the summer warmth with its luminosity filling in enough detail for our brains to read the Surfers Paradise skyline in all its beauty. To me, light is the ultimate subject to paint because it embodies the pinnacle of all reality and breaking it down into its simplest form creates art that is both realistic and contemporary. Joy Flight was a lot of fun, I hope you feel the same and perhaps relive a memory of a visit to Australia's holiday playground.

Artist Bio

Ando is the only artist to have ever created not only the world's largest work of art (that could only be seen from a plane) but also the world's largest canvas painting by a single artist (almost 100 metres around!).
...yet, he is also known for his incredible detailed canvas paintings.
Ando has an incredible portfolio of work that reflects his style of 'ando realism' - an amazing feel for composition, perception, reflection, depth, shadow & light. The viewer wants to drink the wine, walk into the landscape or touch the feathers of each bird. An incredible feat for an artist who has never had an art lesson in his life!

A picture may say a thousand words, but Ando's paintings will leave you speechless!

Ando has been painting since he was four and has been a professional artist for more than thirty years having sold thousands of paintings and prints to collectors around the world.
We will be adding more info on Ando and his career in the "In the Studio" section here on Bluethumb. We also like sharing the stories about Ando's amazing art!

This is Ando's first venture with an online gallery and is very excited about sharing his work with you via Bluethumb!.

Look for his release of future collections including:
- wine
- food and candy
- outback & australiana
- birds
- seascapes
and whatever other themes he wants to challenge himself with!!!
