Oil, Acrylic, Pastels and mixed media
Andrew G Hutcheson.
Based in the beautiful subtropical region of the northern rivers in New South Wales, Australia, Andrew has been developing his artistic skills across different mediums for well over 20 years.
Growing up in Melbourne, Andrew initially studied fine art at Prahran College for the Arts.
Feeling disenchanted with Art school, Andrew decided to leave and pursue a career in Art by developing his skills through experience, observation and the experimentation of different mediums.
Andrew’s initial choice of mediums was working with oils and pastels.
But with the ongoing improvement and development of acrylic paints and their mediums, he has found that this is now his medium of choice.
He describes his main body of work as realism, but lately Andrew has shifted towards experimenting with abstract expressionism fused with a street influence, describing some works as he so coins it, as ‘organized chaos’
Over the past several years Andrew has chosen not to exhibit but to instead refine his skills and retreat into his work.
Adhering to the philosophy that art is non-static but evolutionary, that it is a continuous journey of discovery, not to be bogged down or dictated to by signature or style.
Andrew will continue to surprise on his personal quest of discovery.
His past work has been exhibited in several exhibitions and galleries.
His early achievement was entering a open exhibition for works on paper sponsored by the city of Footscray, Melbourne. Andrew entered two pastels that were awarded not only 1st prize but was also awarded 2nd prize, being a precedent for the annual exhibition.
