The Three Sisters

The Three Sisters an ancient rock formation located in the Jamison Valley near Katoomba NSW.
Aboriginal dream time tells the story of three sisters of the Katoomba tribe that were taken for marriage by three men of the Nepean tribe, Meenhi, Wimlah & Gunnedoo. This was of course not permitted between the two tribes. Legend goes that the sisters were turned into stone to protect them. My connection with The Three Sisters is as close as one can get. While attending boarding school in Bathurst in 1984 my maths teacher Boss Jamison asked who would be interested in rock climbing on a long weekend. So I was part of a small group when l was 14 years old and other older boys under his guidance to climb The Three Sisters. This is not permitted now so a life experience was gained back then in 1984. Eventually they say the rock formation will be eroded away. The legend and the formation will be lost forever.
