These are the first roses of a climbing rose bush that bloomed this spring. They were usually eaten by possums before they saw the sun. The morning sunlight turned their colour to a bright orange hue.

Influenced by the modern Impressionists, I work with oils and prefer to paint landscapes 'Alla Prima' and Still Life in the studio. While painting Alla Prima I try to capture the light, colour and vibe of a seascape or landscape, so I can share the joy of it with the viewer. What fascinates me with Still Life is discovering a whole world in the subtle nuances of flowers with their different patterns and colours.
