My name is Angela Kastanis, I am contemporary Australian Printmaker and Painter with a Greek heritage. I grew up in inner city Melbourne and loved the busy city life. I attended Monash University and have an Honours Degree in Fine Art, majoring in Printmaking (Etching), with my minor being Sculpture.
I tell stories and observe life.
I have a curious nature, and I love exploring colours and techniques although, even now as I have shifted my practice to include painting, my printmaking experience with texture and mark-making is an evident influence in my work.
Art is my escape.
I explore emotions and desires with my work. I like working in most genres and I am just as comfortable working from my imagination as I am working from life. My work is diverse, I could be painting a figurative piece one day and doing an abstract the next. Painting gives me freedom to explore everything and anything I want. I work in oils, acrylics and mixed media.
I love coffee and daydreaming.
I now live on the Sunshine Coast, on a lovely big property with a beautiful tropical garden, surrounded by wildlife. I can be found pottering in my garden, hanging with my two dogs, painting with my canvases spread out on the lawn or in my studio hiding from the world.
I love the smell of paint.
