Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by a holiday to Tasmania. The painting is an interpretation of Coles Bay and the Hazard mountain range. I loved the red rocks that glow in the sun in the region of the Bay of Fires and decided to combine the two in the composition. I also included a female spirit guarding the bay. The painting is on canvas board and is unframed. The painting has been exhibited recently in an small group exhibition "Eclectica".

Artist Bio

Angeline is a self-taught artist. She was trained and worked as a scientist for many years. Artwork for Angeline is painting snapshots of her memories and she also tries to evoke memories in others. Her travels around the world and in Australia have inspired her artwork and her focus on painting Australia. Her science background helped Angeline's art in both composition and themes. Her art practice has environmental themes including climate change and also the effect of the environment on our social well-being. From the start, Angeline chose to paint on a dark burnt umber background, which becomes an integral part of the painting and a distinctive color palette for her artwork. The burnt umber background can make the colors glow or create a dark empathetic mood.

Angeline is a member of the Glen Eira Artist’s Society (GEAS) and Victorian Artist Society.
