I am a lover of nature, still life and blooms. Having lived in over four countries in four different continents and been exposed to different cultures and nationalities, art has cemented this love of beauty.
From a very young age, capturing a picture or an emotion has been a fascination, I love different styles in art and experiment with different techniques. I am a nature lover, I love beauty in any form and in particular, love to capture still life and blooms. Whether it is the beauty in a sunset, or the beauty one see's as one gazes at some roses in a market, the need to capture the beauty in any form is inherent. I am, for the most part, self-taught and has taken some art classes and online courses to improve my skills. I am deeply touched by beauty, and I try to capture nature in my paintings. My main medium is acrylic paint. My background in Interior Design has helped me compose and understand and appreciate the beauty in a flower petal and the way it drapes across a leaf, for instance.
My creative process is very simple, usually, I paint from a reference picture, most commonly, my pictures are sourced from reference-free sites or friends, or well-known artists or photographers who give me permission to use their reference photos in a painting. I usually put in several hours just to plan out the painting, and then I paint at least a minimum of three coats of paint and finally a varnish layer to make sure the canvas is protected and will last a lifetime.
My goal is to capture light, depth, and communicate beauty in every piece I produce. I would love one day to see my paintings hanging in a museum but although a hard goal, I am beginning to see that with hard work and an openness to learn and create, my dream could possibly come true and become a reality. Having seen some of the my favourite art in the world first hand, it has given me an appreciation of beautiful art and the hallowed nature of capturing this beauty. As the famous architect, Mies van der Rohe said, "God is in the details," when I look at details I see the touch of the supernatural and my goal in life is to capture that on canvas, one canvas at a time. I’m happy to take requests and commissions. Thanks so much for taking time out to read this.
