Angelo Quabba, born in Bione, a village at the foot hills of the Alps in the Northen Italy, in 1952.
He was introduce to oil paints by means of a gift from his uncle, at a tender age of twelve year old.
From this point he had an insatiable desire to explore nature and learn everything he could about painting.
Angelo would spend hours in the countryside observing the form and colour of the lush mountain scenery near his home.โ
His painting is very much a passion cultivated from childhood, and a learning experience.
In 1977 he held his first solo exhibition in Salo` on the Lake Garda in Lombardy, Italy.
Successful exhibitions followed in the Italian cities of Brescia and Milan.
He arrived in Australia in 1982 and settle in North East Victoria.
โ I found a new horizon of light, colour, open spaces, and vibrant blue skyโ
His painting express a Zest for life and encompass a rich diversity of subject, from huge landscapes and dramatic Still Life to intimate scenes , portraits and figurative studies.
Angeloโs oil paintings have a distinctive flair, โ Joie de Vivreโ, because every piece seems full of vitality and spontaneity.
Even today with collections in Both Europe and Australia and a winner of more than 80 awards in the past 25 years, Angelo still sees a need for further development in his subjects choices and the way to interpret the subjects.
He is an exemplary exponent of the all Prima oil technique, or `first fall of the brush`..painted directly on the canvas wet on wet without preliminary under drawing, or such preparation, Characterized by broad strong brush strokes that bring both sensitivity and freshness to his work.
His flickering volley of brush strokes is inventive, kinetic, responsive and glowing with a heartfelt warmth and cohesive light uncommon in traditional art.
Not a slave to exhaustive or mechanical detail, it is Angelo impressionist passion of embracing the purely sensorial beauty of his subject which remains the canon for his artistic invention.
This he achieves seemingly effortlessly in refined nuances, hues and tones, cleverly underplayed in luminosity and refreshing contrast.
