About

Anica is a self-taught artist living on the South Coast of NSW captivated by light and emotion. It's these two elements that spell "life and hope" for Anica and this is the underlying theme in all her works. No matter what the subject is, capturing that bit of life is always the challenge and ultimate goal.

Having tried various mediums the favourites are watercolour, acrylics, gouache, pastels and oils.

In the year 2000, she was encouraged to follow her dream and took a shine to the wonderful world of Australian birds, animals and flora. Having spent many a day walking, observing and studying the intricate details of our native birds, flora and fauna she found great pleasure in depicting these. Putting paint to paper, her preferred medium was gouache on black mat board. Limited edition prints of a set of 23 paintings were printed and wonderfully, thousands were sold and shipped all over the world.

It was at this time that Anica and her husband Laurie opened their first gallery in Springwood in the Blue Mountains. The gallery was devoted solely to Anica's work, selling both originals and prints of her work. Laurie took on the role of chief framer and provided customers with several popular framing options. Over the years there have been a few Anica Art galleries in the Blue Mountains, as well as Ulladulla and Mollymook on the South Coast of NSW.

Anica continually works on her evolving style and believes that it's the journey that must be enjoyed!
