Artwork Description

Orb shaped sculpture, made with quartz natural rocks, representing earth resources, bound together with man made material: concrete.
The inspiration behind this sculpture is humanity consciousness versus nature consciousness.
As you explore the sculpture, it will take you on a journey and hopefully it will guide you to dig deep into your subconscious mind and will embolden you to make small positive changes that will benefit the humanity and Mother Earth.

Artist Bio

Anica Gikovska is an Australian artist with a Macedonian background. She lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne with a practice based in edible art and contemporary visual art encompassing mixed-media textured wall art and sculptures that combine natural and man-made materials. For Anica, creating art is an essential aspect of her being in which she doesn’t limit herself with the materials she uses.

Her work has a strong connection with nature, which informs both the material and conceptual stories behind each sculpture. Her practice also draws inspiration from a space somewhere between her subconscious and super conscious mind;

“Usually I would get some glimpses during, or straight after meditation when I’m most relaxed and content and in a state of pure joy… Sometimes I reach that place when I start creating. I get lost in the process and just go with the flow, let my subconscious mind guide me. Most of the time I don’t know how the final product will look like and that’s the beauty of it. I love to experiment and push boundaries both with materials and concepts.”
