Thank you for taking a look at my paintings on Bluethumb!
I'm a mixed-media artist working on paper and wood panel. I create my paintings in layers, embedding personal meaning, expressive marks and interesting textures as I build each image.
Some of my paintings are made in a purely intuitive way, completely unplanned, produced from my individual aesthetic and imagination. Other paintings represent the world around me, from my own observations, sketches and photographs. They are still very expressive, containing intuitive marks, materials and colours, capturing what I think and feel about a subject beyond what I see. I call my expressive landscapes "placescapes."
My paintings have been described as colourful, uplifting and joyful. They acknowledge our struggles in life, but never lose sight of hope.
In 2021 one of my images was published in a book and in January 2022 my first solo exhibition "Rhythms of Place" was held at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery. One of the paintings was acquired for the City of Bunbury permanent collection.
