Blushing Galah – Reimagined celebrates one of Australia’s most iconic birds through colour, texture and imagination rather than realism. Inspired by the galah’s gentle nature and unmistakable blush-pink plumage, this painting explores the bird as a vibrant expression of joy, curiosity and resilience.
Intricate hand-painted feather patterns radiate from the eye, drawing the viewer into the galah’s personality, while fluid acrylic pouring techniques create organic movement and unexpected textures throughout the chest and wing. These contrasting methods combine to blur the boundary between traditional wildlife art and contemporary abstraction.

Artist Influence
My work is inspired by Australia’s unique wildlife and a desire to move beyond traditional wildlife portraiture. I enjoy combining expressive brushwork with experimental acrylic pouring techniques to create paintings that are both recognisable and unexpected.
The Reimagined series explores familiar Australian birds through contemporary colour palettes, layered textures and decorative patterns, celebrating not only their physical beauty but also the personality and energy they evoke.
Each painting becomes an exploration of balance—between realism and abstraction, control and spontaneity, and fine detail and fluid movement. My hope is that each piece encourages viewers to look a little longer, discovering new textures, colours and details with every glance.
