Mixed Media on wood, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
I call my expressionist landscapes "placescapes" because they capture the layers of what I think and feel about a place beyond what my eyes see. This painting was created entirely in my studio from memory and sketches, as part of a series of Bunbury placescapes. It's a sunny, wistful painting. Anyone familiar with Bunbury (WA) will recognise the silhouette of the iconic Bunbury Tower, otherwise known as the milk carton.
Premium quality artist sealer, gesso (primer) paint and varnish have been applied to the sides and back as well as the front. Treating the entire piece with the same finishes protects the wood from warping over time which can otherwise occur. The top edge is painted pale blue, the sides are a darker blue and the base is a golden yellow. D-rings, hanging wire and bumper dots are in place on the back along with full details and artist signature. The front is signed A Shortland.
Although this painting is ready to hang, adding a frame will protect and enhance it. It can also stand on a shelf instead of hanging.
