Artwork Description

Manuka scrub is prevalent across the Mornington Peninsula and not only presents with a unique visual character but also is important for the production of honey. this painting is a figurative representation of form, colour and texture. I have tried to catch the tangled and scruffy image of this scrub.

Artist Bio

At 10 years of age I was accepted as the only child to receive tuition with the McClelland Art Group in the studio of the artist Harry McClelland. While completing my Primary School Teacher training I majored in painting. I co-ordinated and taught art for 4 years, undertaking local community projects involving students.
I presented my first solo exhibition at the Frankston Art Centre in 2013. I have received a number of awards while exhibiting in a range of Mornington Peninsula Art shows.
My work features figurative representations of the Australian landscape, using thickly textured applications of oil paint. I sometimes use a variety of mixed media, including organic material.Much of the inspiration for my art work comes from extensive travel throughout the Northern Territory which consolidated my respect for our environment.
