I love to paint, for me stepping into my studio is my release. I am fascinated by the shadows in the early morning and afternoon light and try to capture the mood and feeling of a time and place, each painting capturing that one moment. The sea is a constantly changing dance of colour and light and this reflective nature of water keeps drawing me back to the coast, a never ending supply of inspiration.
Light plays an important part of my painting process, capturing the early morning hues of yellow, orange and gold as the sun glints through the tips of the scrub and I especially love that time on the beach when the day is starting to cool, the shadows are creeping past the sand dunes, changing from hues of pinks to purple and blue as the sun sets.
The goal for my work is to produce a beautiful painting that makes people, stop, pause and escape for a moment.
