My name is Ann - I paint vividly bright artworks with intricate details that sing.
Based in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, I am an emerging artist with a passion for painting alla prima oils works in a "loose realism" or modern impressionism style. In my finished works, you'll see brush strokes, occassional glimpses of the toned canvas in the background (if the subject warrants) and lots of varied geometrical shapes. I paint daily outside and am drawn to floral still lifes and sun-filled landscapes as my main subjects. I take on several commissions a year in between entering my art in competitions and teaching oil workshops at Bienarte or paint and sips near my home.
Art has long been a part of my life. Growing up, I won several school and regional competitions. After earning my BA from Wellesley, I volunteered as an art teacher to primary school students both at uni and with the New York Junior League. Upon leaving the corporate world, I began painting again in 2021 - taking classes and learning as much as I could online and via a daily dedicated practice.
Because I adore the feeling of "indoors outdoors", I paint outdoors in the alla prima style using professional oil paints on high quality canvases. All of my works are originals created by me in Brisbane or on the Sunshine Coast. I am currently exhibiting my work in Lethbridge Gallery's Salon des Refuses, the Kenmore Gallery, and Exact Orthodontics Indooroopilly. This year and in years past, I have had my art accepted into and sold my art at the Doyles Art Award, the Ekka, the Toowoomba Grammar Art Show, Incognito Art Show and Brookfield Show. In prior years, I have exhibited at Ipswich Show and Kenmore Art Burst My works have sold to collectors in Australia, the U.S. and South Africa.
