Artwork Description

This piece, from my Shoelaces series, presents a grouping of shoelaces, each strand seemingly engaged in a silent conversation. The arrangement captures a dialogue without words, where the stillness of the shoelaces contrasts with an underlying sense of movement and animation. The tension between silence and animation creates an evocative interplay, drawing the viewer into the subtle dance of these everyday objects. Through their intricate entanglement, the shoelaces reflect the quiet complexity and unspoken connections that exist in our daily lives.

All my paintings are finished with layers of varnish for bright colors and clear permanent protection for years. Each painting is one of a kind.

Artist Bio

Based in Sydney, Ann is a talented artist with a unique background. Originally trained as an optometrist, Ann pursued a passion for the visual arts by completing a degree in Fine Art in London.

With experience teaching life drawing, Ann has honed her skills in capturing the human form with precision and sensitivity. She has been selected as a finalist in both the prestigious Mosman and Blacktown Art Prizes.

Ann's current body of work is characterised by layers of acrylics, collage, and mixed media. This intricate layering process develops a richness that creates visually captivating pieces that explore colour and symmetry. Inspiration for these works comes from the colours and dynamic forms found in everyday surroundings and the natural world.

Ann's process often involves creating colour plays from paint and objects, photographing them and manipulating in Photoshop to create images that serve as a starting point for her canvases.
