Artwork Description

Every so often I do something that is calming and delights me. It is away from my Conceptual drawing and painting regime, and I do something that makes me feel close to my heart and wholesome. This work is a work of an image I took of a bouquet that was on my lounge room table by the very large windows. The style is cartoon like and semi realistic. The original here is vibrant and very detailed. It is pleasing to the eye. It is lifting.
A lot of hours have gone into this piece.
NB: This is frameless. It is recommended that mat board is included with the framing. It really is an artwork to be seen up close for the detail, as well as at the distance for the colours and shapes. There is something quite unique to the pigments in pastels.
In certain light, pastel pigment crystals glow and make a picture become quite alive. I have seen it with my art work especially in portraits where the work is full pastel coverage. What the photographs are not picking up are the silky petals and smooth gliding nuances of colour in the flowers. This is from the crystalline pigments. This is why I chose pastel for this drawing rather than coloured pencils or inks.

I thankyou for visiting. Have a happy day. :-D

Artist Bio

Anna Boros is a professional artist based in Sydney, Australia.

She currently resides within a living sculpture; walls plastered with mirror mosaics, windows glowing blue with custom leadlighting. It is a personal gallery and exhibition space that houses a lifetime of art creation.

"The abstracted mirror mosaics was a conceptual work, based on the reverence of church reflections and also the inner sanctum of our own reflection when we are alone. We reach a certain so personal space and place within us. The reflections were also to bring about colour, and the colour in the reflections when people visit, is the spark of joy that others bring me- reflections can also be about having our own 'inner sanctum' lit up!"

Anna has been exhibiting her art since 1973: Her work, "King Nebuchadnezzar on his chariot with his team of horses" was her first sale, with the proceeds quickly purchasing a couple of Levi's and some shoes.

In her life Anna has worked as a singing teacher, professional singer, sang at many different venues from Sydney to the Blue Mountains, Metaphysics teacher, radio host, songwriter, poet, performance artist, sculptor, and art teacher (in mosaic and sculpture). Her dedication and contribution to the art world is unquestionable: dozens of her works have been displayed in almost a hundred exhibitions.

Her latest exhibition series, "Everyday Matriarchal Heroines", is a collection of 18 individual portraits. Each portrait, drawn in pastel on canvas, was a celebration of an unsung hero. Titled "Everyday Matriarchal Heroines" , the exhibition, opened by the Honourable member for Lindsay Emma Husar, marked the end of a touching and unique experience for Anna. It took nearly a full year of dedication and hard work to realise 18 portraits of everyday women who had come out on top of debilitating traumatic experiences and events. The 18 women were interviewed, written records of their experiences, photographed, drawn, then beautifully framed, then exhibited.

"The women that have been drawn are very special. They are a few of the many women who walk silently within our midst who should be honoured and recognised for their heroism and courage."

The 2nd last real life exhibition was early 2019 at Katoomba, One88 Gallery where a joint exhibition was conducted to celebrate women . Everyday Matriarchal Heroines was exhibited. Upcoming exhibition (Finalist) will be Campbelltown Art Gallery, the Fishers Ghost Art Awards, November, 2020. Also for November, Fairfield Art Society Online Open Art Prize 2020. 'The Preponderance Of Dorne-May', (being a conceptual work, pastel drawing/ painting) has been entried.

The latest art exhibition was at Campbelltown Art Gallery where she was invited to lend an artwork titled 'Kitty Kitty' to them for an exhibition titled 'Space YZ'. . It has been in the gallery since early January 2021, and will be being bumped out in early March 2021. During its time of stay at the gallery , the Space YZ Exhibition was part of the Sydfest 2021, being 6-26 January.

Also, Anna will be uploading more artworks when she can. There are many works for sale and she is still sorting through everything with the new studio. She is definitely hoping to sell some of the older works at reduced prices to clear floor space of which the works are quite lovely. So pop in to check. She will still be here. :-) If you like a particular style or colour combinations or even if you have a photograph of something you would like her to work for you, please feel happily free to contact her.
