Mixed Media on paper
Signed on the front.
This artwork is a Conceptual Art piece, with Surrealist leanings drawn in a comic style , some parts of it being semi realistic. Towards the mid section of the page, the focal point leads to a Stargazer fish, where a decayed, leaf green image of an artist's hand holds a paintbrush to the painting of the Stargazer Fish.
Above this work is a lifelike stylised hand that seems to have tossed water droplets, gold coins, cut diamonds, a squat sword, and fire flames toward the fish.
Below the fish are unusually shaped 'people'. Their bodies being cone shaped, and their heads in differing positions. 6 personifications, one being a cat which is holding a fishing line over a 'hole' in the tile, and 5 human like entities. There is to be seen below them, a shower floor drain with water running into it.
To the right of the people, near to the right hand edge of the page, is a molten mass where it shows runoffs of these 'lava' streaks onto the background of black and white 'tiles'.
All of the work is full of colour. The background of the drawing/ watercolour work is of a black and white 'tiling' where the pattern tilts toward the upper left hand corner. It is quite a striking work, full of esoteric cryptic objects, situations, and symbology.
The title of the work explains a lot of what this is about. A psychological influence certainly has become conceptualised here. 'Moving Towards Acquiescence' is about accepting certain boundaries within situations of restriction and a need to have patience,,, and once accepted, there is calm and quietude. This artwork reminds us that fighting for something, working too hard at things can leave us feeling bedraggled, withered, and sad. Once we can move towards acquiescence, we can relax and trust in faith that sometimes to be still is very much ok- sounding very much like a popular Aesop's Fable! :-D
Thankyou for reading. :-D
